Why this matters

Not because it suits everyone (it doesn't — see below), but because it is genuinely new: for the first time, a pre-IPO company has a public, continuous, shortable price. When the next OpenAI funding-round rumor lands, there is now a live market price expressing what people actually believe.

Pricing, honestly

Listed-stock perpetuals anchor to a spot price; a pre-IPO company has none. The pricing mechanics of these contracts differ from ordinary stock perps — for the exact rules, refer to Binance's official contract specifications. We won't paraphrase a mechanism we can't verify.

One corollary to remember: no spot anchor = price driven by sentiment and funding events = swings can far exceed listed stocks.

Risks (heavier than usual)

• Valuation-event driven: one funding rumor or executive change can gap the price, with no trading halt to cushion it.
• Without spot arbitrage, price can stay far from "fair value" for a long time.
• Not for beginners. If you can't explain what a funding rate is, skip these two.
