Binance Futures has now added Tesla, with the code TSLAUSDT. It is not a stock, but a perpetual contract settled in USDT, and the price follows the Tesla stock price on Nasdaq. The advantage is that you can trade at any time, but the disadvantage is that you can lose money quickly after adding leverage. This article explains the mechanism and risks thoroughly, and then walks you through the order process.

What exactly is this contract?

TSLAUSDT is a USDT-based perpetual contract. You don't actually buy Tesla stock, you don't have voting rights, and you don't get dividends. It is just a cash-settled derivative, the price is anchored to the TSLA stock price on Nasdaq, and profits and losses are calculated in USDT.

The operating logic is the same as that of an ordinary contract: if it’s bullish, go long, if it’s bearish, go short. Because there is no physical delivery involved, opening and closing positions is flexible.

Why would anyone want to trade stock contracts on a crypto exchange?

Traditional U.S. stocks have opening and closing times and are closed on weekends. If there is big news on Tesla on Saturday night, those who hold shares will have to wait until Monday. TSLAUSDT on Binance Futures is traded 24/7 and can react at any time.

The threshold is also low. Buying a share of Tesla may cost a few hundred dollars, but the minimum contract order size is 0.01 TSLA, so you can participate with little capital.

Leverage is another story. This contract supports up to 5x leverage, which means you can operate a Tesla contract worth about $500 with a margin of about $100. But leverage is a double-edged sword, more on that later.

Funding rate: Settled every four hours

Perpetual contracts have no expiration date. In order to keep the price from going too far, the exchange uses funding rates to balance the long and short parties. This fee is paid between traders, not a handling fee to the exchange.

If the funding rate is positive, longs pay shorts; if it is negative, shorts pay longs. The funding rate for this contract is generally limited to plus or minus 2%. Under certain market conditions, if you hold a position in the right direction, you can still receive funding fees from the other party, which is equivalent to passive income. But don’t expect this to make steady money, as rates can change at any time.

Risk: Leverage and volatility can magnify losses

Leverage is a multiplier. When using 5x leverage, if the price of Tesla drops by 20%, your margin will be lost and forced liquidation will be triggered. Liquidation is not a warning, the system directly liquidates it for you, and you may not even have time to react.

Tesla itself is highly volatile, and coupled with the characteristics of the crypto derivatives market, the price jumps very quickly. So don’t stud with a full position, and don’t use full leverage when the volatility is high.

The method to control risk is not complicated: set up stop-loss orders, limit single positions, and don’t use excessive leverage. These are not guaranteed to make money, they just allow you to lose money more slowly and survive until the next wave of market trends.

Order steps

First log in to Binance, go to the contract page, and select the USD(S)-M contract. Note that this product may not be available in some areas, whichever is actually displayed in your account.

Enter TSLAUSDT in the search box, or look for it under the TradFi category. You can see the contract account balance in the lower right corner. If you don't have any money, use the transfer, coin purchase or flash swap function to deposit money. The first time you use a contract, you need to open a contract account, and you may also need to take a contract test.

You can buy or sell directly in the order panel, and the minimum order amount is 0.01 TSLA. In the upper right corner, you can switch between full position and isolated position modes. In the cross position mode, all assets and positions in the contract account are calculated together with the margin and forced liquidation price, and the positions will affect each other. The isolated position model isolates risks in a single position, and Tesla positions will not be affected by fluctuations in other positions.

At the bottom, you can view current positions, pending orders and historical orders.

Handling fees, VIP and rebates: costs to check before placing an order

In addition to the funding rate, Binance Futures trading also has handling fees. The specific rate depends on your VIP level, whether you use BNB deduction, and whether there is a rebate relationship. These numbers change and I'm not making up specific rates here. You can view real-time rates on Binance’s fees page or the futures trading interface.

If you register through a recommended link or have a commission relationship, part of the handling fee may be refunded, but the commission ratio and conditions also vary from account to account. Don't just look at leverage and potential returns. The accumulation of handling fees and funding rates may eat up a lot of profits.

FAQ

**What is the code for the Tesla contract? ** TSLAUSDT, a USDT-based perpetual contract, the price tracks the Tesla stock price on Nasdaq, and profits and losses are settled in USDT.

**Is trading TSLAUSDT the same as owning Tesla stock? ** no. It is a cash-settled derivative where you only have price exposure and no voting rights or dividends.

**Can I trade on weekends? ** able. Nasdaq is closed, but the TSLAUSDT contract trades 24×7.

**What will happen if the price goes in the opposite direction? ** If the loss causes the margin to fall below the maintenance margin level, the position will be forced to be liquidated by the system. Setting stop losses and conservative positioning can reduce this risk.

##Finally

TSLAUSDT connects traditional stocks and crypto markets. 24-hour trading, fractional shares, and leverage are all very convenient. But convenience does not mean safety, leverage and volatility are there. First understand the funding rate and liquidation mechanism before considering placing an order.
