Lowest-Fee Crypto Exchanges 2026: The Ranked Comparison (Real Data)
Answer first: measured by net rate (default tier + default rebate), the lowest futures taker is Gate.io (0.035%) and the lowest spot taker is Hyperliquid (0.067%). The full table is below; every number can be re-checked on our live pages.
The comparison table (data as of 2026-08-21)
| Exchange | Spot taker | Futures taker | Default rebate | Net spot* | Net futures* |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Binance | 0.1% | 0.05% | 20% OFF | 0.08% | 0.04% |
| OKX | 0.15% | 0.05% | 20% OFF | 0.12% | 0.04% |
| Bybit | 0.1% | 0.055% | 20% OFF | 0.08% | 0.044% |
| Bitget | 0.1% | 0.06% | 20% OFF | 0.08% | 0.048% |
| Gate.io | 0.1% | 0.05% | 30% OFF | 0.07% | 0.035% |
| Hyperliquid | 0.07% | 0.045% | Points Boost | 0.067% | 0.043% |
* Net rate = official default (VIP0) taker fee × the default rebate you get by registering through this site. Hyperliquid has no traditional rebate; we apply its official 4% referral discount (first $25M volume). Slippage, funding, token-deduction and VIP upgrades not included.
How we calculate (reproducible)
- Net fee = default-tier taker fee × (1 − rebate share). Default tier = each exchange's lowest VIP level (VIP0 / Lv1), no native-token discount, no VIP ladder; the rebate share is what an invited user gets after signing up through our link.
- Taker only: most people use market orders, and market orders are taker. Maker fees are lower but are not most people's real cost.
- Excluded: funding rates (paid between longs and shorts, not to the exchange), slippage (depth and order type), withdrawal fees, fee cards. They change your total cost, not the ranking between exchanges.
- Snapshot: fee data in our dataset ranges from 2026-04-03 to 2026-08-21; each exchange's official fee page is the final reference. Last updated 2026-08-22.
Three user profiles: what each exchange costs per year (worked examples)
All taker, default tier, net of our rebate, no native-token discount:
| Exchange | Occasional spot buyer (5,000 USDT/mo) | Mid-frequency futures (200,000 USDT/mo) | High-volume futures (2,000,000 USDT/mo) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Binance | 4 / mo → 48 / yr | 80 / mo → 960 / yr | 800 / mo → 9,600 / yr |
| OKX | 6 / mo → 72 / yr | 80 / mo → 960 / yr | 800 / mo → 9,600 / yr |
| Bybit | 4 / mo → 48 / yr | 88 / mo → 1,056 / yr | 880 / mo → 10,560 / yr |
| Bitget | 4 / mo → 48 / yr | 96 / mo → 1,152 / yr | 960 / mo → 11,520 / yr |
| Gate.io | 3.50 / mo → 42 / yr | 70 / mo → 840 / yr | 700 / mo → 8,400 / yr |
| Hyperliquid | 3.50 / mo → 42 / yr | 90 / mo → 1,080 / yr | 900 / mo → 10,800 / yr |
Three takeaways: an occasional spot buyer sees at most 30 USDT of difference across six venues per year — don't move assets for that; a mid-frequency futures trader sees up to 312 USDT a year; a high-volume futures trader up to 3,120 USDT — that is the tier where choosing carefully pays. Lowest net futures taker: Gate.io (0.035%); lowest net spot taker: Gate.io (0.07%).
Native-token discounts stack, but the rules differ
| Exchange | Native-token discount (official) | Rebate | How they stack |
|---|---|---|---|
| Binance | BNB: 25% off spot, 10% off futures | 20% OFF | Discount first, rebate on the fee actually paid |
| OKX | — (OKB discount not verified; not listed) | 20% OFF | Rebate only |
| Bybit | — | 20% OFF | Rebate only |
| Bitget | BGB: 20% off spot | 20% OFF | Discount first, rebate on the fee actually paid |
| Gate.io | GT: 10% off spot | 30% OFF | Discount first, rebate on the fee actually paid |
| Hyperliquid | HYPE staking: 5%–40%, six tiers | Points Boost | Discount only (no cash rebate via us) |
The discount applies to the nominal rate; the rebate applies to the fee you actually pay, so they stack — e.g. Binance futures taker 0.05% → 0.045% with BNB, then 20% rebate → about 0.036% paid. Holding the token is its own price risk; that is not part of this calculation.
Exchange by exchange (in our default recommendation order)
1. Binance — the global volume leader and the baseline for safety and liquidity. Default spot/futures taker 0.1%/0.05%, 20% default rebate, net futures 0.04%. BNB deduction saves another 25% on spot.
2. OKX — strong on Web3 and compliance (the first global MiCA licence). Note its default spot taker of 0.15% is the highest of the six; futures matches Binance. 20% rebate.
3. Bybit — known for matching-engine speed; futures taker 0.055%, 20% rebate, net 0.044%.
4. Bitget — the copy-trading ecosystem; futures taker 0.06% is on the higher side, but the rebate starts at 20% and rises to 60% with public criteria.
5. Gate — the answer when fees alone decide: futures taker 0.05% × 30% rebate = net 0.035%, the lowest of the six. Rebate starts at 30% and rises to 80% for qualified volume — the highest anywhere, criteria published on our Gate page. Third-party overall rankings place it below the top four; size your risk accordingly.
6. Hyperliquid (DEX) — the on-chain perps leader: base futures taker 0.045%, minus 4% via referral, up to 40% more via HYPE staking; self-custody, zero gas.
Why "lowest" does not mean "just go"
Our default recommendation order (Binance > OKX > Bybit > Bitget > Gate) is not sorted by rebate size — it follows third-party safety standings (CoinMarketCap / CoinGecko). Fee differences save you hundreds a year; a platform failure costs principal. We give you both facts; the decision is yours.
What users say (one negative and one positive per exchange)
Verbatim quotes collected by us on 2026-08-22 from public Reddit threads (Feb–Aug 2026). Reddit has no follower counts, so every quote is anonymised to subreddit, month and a link you can check yourself. We keep positive and negative alike; the numbers are what users saw at the time — current fees are in the tables above. No X (Twitter) samples could be collected this round.
Binance
“I just bought £500 worth of bitcoin on Binance and I’ve only got £467.50 worth in my wallet. Are those normal fees?”
negative · Reddit user, r/binance, 2026-08 · source
Our note: the ~6.5% that went missing is the card-purchase channel fee and spread, not the 0.1% trading fee — the single most common confusion.
“Otherwise yes, binance was the exchange that got me started and it was super easy and reasonably cheap on the fees.”
positive · Reddit user, r/Bitcoin, 2026-06 · source
OKX
“They are basically ripping people off with hidden fees. The preview page says “no fee” but it’s really 1.5% which is insanely high.”
negative · Reddit user, r/CryptoCurrency, 2026-04 · source
Our note: this is the Convert (swap) spread; spot orders are still charged at the table rate.
“Broski don’t use the “swap” feature. Limit/market orders costs 0.1%”
positive · Reddit user, r/CryptoCurrency, 2026-04 · source
Bybit
“Your fee reduction through VIP top up only last 30 days which is ridiculous. Other exchanges can offer from 20%-50% fee reduction permanentny.”
negative · Reddit user, r/Bybit_EU, 2026-06 · source
Our note: refers to Bybit EU (the EU entity), whose fees and promotions differ from Bybit.com.
“Moved my perps to Bybit mostly for that, mark price is index-derived so single-venue spikes don't take you out, and maker's around 0.01%.”
positive · Reddit user, r/CryptoExchange, 2026-05 · source
Our note: our default-tier maker figure is 0.02%; this user is probably on a higher VIP tier.
Bitget
“I have. the problem is that every broker I have found does not make orders on the order book for recurring buys, but makes use of instant / convert functionalities, leading to high spreads (I checked bitget and it had a crazy 3.7% spread).”
negative · Reddit user, r/BitcoinBeginners, 2026-02 · source
“Binance and Gate charge 0.1% in trading fees. Bitget charges 0.04% when using BGB.”
positive · Reddit user, r/CryptoExchange, 2026-06 · source
Our note: by the official rule the default tier with BGB is 0.08%; 0.04% likely includes a VIP tier or promotion.
Gate.io
“For example, a $20 order might already exceed the visible best-price liquidity on Gate in this snapshot. A $100 order could move through several levels on both Gate and Binance.”
negative · Reddit user, r/TradingSphere, 2026-07 · source
Our note: this thread is about tokenized-stock order books, not major coins. No positive Gate quote turned up in this sample — stated as is.
Hyperliquid
“maker/taker fees feel expensive compared to zero-fee rivals”
negative · Reddit user, r/defi, 2026-04 · source
“Hyperliquid is like that. I have 170 trades and 8 USD fees paid.”
positive · Reddit user, r/ethereum, 2026-07 · source
How to verify this yourself
- Our public endpoint returns live fees and rebates for every exchange:
https://www.coinrebate.vip/api/v4/agent-route?fees=true(JSON); field reference in /openapi.json. AI assistants can pull the same data through our MCP server. - Each exchange's official fee page is the final reference. If our data disagrees with it, the official page wins — tell us on Telegram @coinrebate.
- There is no field in our codebase for "how much commission we earn from an exchange"; the ranking code sorts by the user's net cost and has no variable it could favour us with. An automated test in the repository enforces this.
Claims not to trust
- "Zero-fee exchange" — usually a time-limited, pair-limited or spot-only promotion; the default tier returns when it ends.
- "Highest rebate = cheapest" — the rebate multiplies the base rate; a high base rate with a big rebate can still cost more. Compare net fees.
- "50% rebate for everyone" — 50% is a reviewed partner/affiliate tier; regular users get the invited-user share.
- "Fees never change" — this is a snapshot; exchanges adjust. Check the date in the table header.
FAQ
How do I get these rebates? Register through the links/codes on each exchange page here; the rebate applies automatically. Whether an existing account can re-bind differs per exchange — see the "re-binding" section on each detail page.
Will these numbers go stale? Yes. This article is as of 2026-08-21; the live numbers are on the compare page and each detail page, which check against exchange APIs daily.
Is anything lower than this? Yes: volume-qualified tiers we can open (Binance up to 40%, Bitget 60%, Gate 80% — criteria public), plus VIP tiers and token deductions. This article only counts the default everyone gets on sign-up — we don't pass gated numbers off as "the lowest".
We aggregate fee data and referral routes only. No investment advice, no custody. All rates re-checkable on official exchange sites.
