AMD is acquiring WorldLabs, and the news landed inside a week when AMDUSDT did not move up. The week opened at 632.67 USDT and last closed at 609.78 USDT, down 3.62%. The sharpest single day was 2026-09-28, down 3.38%, which alone accounted for most of the weekly decline.
How the daily candles moved after the news

| 2026-09-23 | 623.66 | 615.16 | -1.36% |
| 2026-09-24 | 615.16 | 630.27 | 2.46% |
| 2026-09-25 | 630.2 | 631.45 | 0.2% |
| 2026-09-26 | 631.43 | 627.72 | -0.59% |
| 2026-09-27 | 627.76 | 632.53 | 0.76% |
| 2026-09-28 | 632.67 | 611.26 | -3.38% |
| 2026-09-29 | 611.29 | 609.78 | -0.25% |
The first half of the week was not weak. On 2026-09-24 price moved from 615.16 USDT to 630.27 USDT, up 2.46%, recovering the 1.36% drop from 2026-09-23. On 2026-09-25 and 2026-09-27 it gained 0.2% and 0.76%, holding around the 630.2 USDT area. By 2026-09-27 the close was 632.53 USDT, near the week's high.
The turn came on 2026-09-28, which opened at 632.67 USDT and closed at 611.26 USDT, down 3.38%. On 2026-09-29 price moved from 611.29 USDT to 609.78 USDT, down 0.25%, narrowing but not reversing. Together the two days erased more than everything gained from 2026-09-24 to 2026-09-27.
AMDUSDT is a US equity USDT-margined perpetual contract listed on 2026-05-06, with 22 weekly samples so far. That is a short sample, but enough to show this contract can move 3.33% to 13.49% in a week.
Where this week ranks among the 22 samples
Of the 22 weekly samples, 16 were stronger than this week. The -3.62% reading sits in the weaker part of the sample, not the worst, but far from strong.
The strongest weeks are clearly separated. 2026-09-14 rose 13.49%, from 497.24 USDT to 564.33 USDT. 2026-05-18 rose 12.86%, from 419.85 USDT to 473.85 USDT. 2026-09-21 rose 12.09%, from 564.33 USDT to 632.53 USDT. 2026-06-08 rose 11.82%, from 466.49 USDT to 521.61 USDT. 2026-05-04 rose 11.62%, from 412.15 USDT to 460.03 USDT. Each of these gained more than the 3.8% of 2026-09-07.
A middle tier follows: 2026-07-20 up 9.55%, 2026-05-25 up 9.13%, 2026-08-10 up 6.65%, 2026-09-07 up 3.8%, 2026-08-31 up 3.38%, 2026-07-06 up 3.33%.
The sample also contains weeks weaker than this one, such as 2026-06-22 down 0.99%, 2026-08-03 down 1.46% and 2026-08-24 down 1.95%, all smaller declines than 3.62%. So this week is neither the worst nor mild; it ranks in the weaker band.
What popular Square posts say about the deal
Popular Square posts argue that AMD acquiring WorldLabs is less about the price tag and more about buying AI and data center capability, pushing resources toward compute infrastructure. That is usually read as a medium-term narrative rather than something priced in on the same day.
Some posts note that news and price reaction often lag each other, and AMDUSDT closing down 3.62% suggests the market did not trade the acquisition as an immediate positive. Others point out that a US equity USDT-margined perpetual is priced by both the underlying stock and contract market sentiment, so one headline rarely explains the whole move.
All of the above is a paraphrase and does not represent our view or constitute any basis for decisions.
Three plain facts
First, gaps matter on AMDUSDT. As a US equity USDT-margined perpetual, its underlying stock has closed sessions, and price continuity differs from crypto-native contracts. The open can sit far from the previous close, and a stop order may not fill where you set it.
Second, high leverage turns a weekly move into a one-time account event. The largest single-day decline this week was 3.38%, a pullback in spot terms but a large bite of margin in a high-leverage position. The higher the leverage, the less room normal price movement has; that is structure, not luck.
Third, funding is an ongoing cost of holding. Perpetuals use funding to pull price toward the underlying, and the longer you hold, the more times you pay it. Short-term traders watch direction; longer holders should count funding too.
Fourth, the best week is only a conclusion in hindsight. The 13.49% gain in 2026-09-14 and the 12.86% in 2026-05-18 only became numbers after the fact. Nobody knew at the start of those weeks that they would rank at the top, and treating a finished strong week as a repeatable template is where mistakes start.
Fees
The Binance contract default maker fee is 0.02% and the default taker fee is 0.05%. The rebate ratio is 20%. After the rebate, the effective maker fee is 0.016% and the effective taker fee is 0.04%.
Read together, taking liquidity costs more than providing it, and frequent entries and exits accumulate fees linearly with trade count.
For a contract like AMDUSDT that moves in wide weekly ranges, switching from taker to maker changes the per-trade cost from 0.05% to 0.016%, a difference that shows up over many trades.
