Down 0.28%, yet still in the back half of a 200-week sample
BTCUSDT this week (2026-10-12 open 83723.1 USDT, latest close 83487.3 USDT) closed down 0.28%. On its own that number says little, but inside a 200-week sample it ranks 108th, sitting in the back half, with 92 weeks weaker. The week did not earn its place by rising a lot; it earned it by falling little. What matters more than the 0.28% is the path inside the week: down to 81813.4 USDT on 10-12, then back up to 83487.3 USDT on 10-13, and whether that bounce holds.
Three legs in the daily candles: breakdown, streak, then a hit
| Date | open (USDT) | close (USDT) | Change |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026-10-06 | 85717.2 | 85507.5 | -0.24% |
| 2026-10-07 | 85507.6 | 83281.9 | -2.6% |
| 2026-10-08 | 83281.9 | 81711 | -1.89% |
| 2026-10-09 | 81711 | 82578.5 | 1.06% |
| 2026-10-10 | 82578.5 | 82941 | 0.44% |
| 2026-10-11 | 82941 | 83723 | 0.94% |
| 2026-10-12 | 83723.1 | 81813.4 | -2.28% |
| 2026-10-13 | 81813.5 | 83487.3 | 2.05% |
The two days that matter most are 10-08 and 10-13. On 10-08 price fell from 83281.9 USDT to 81711 USDT, down 1.89%, the lowest close in this table (10-08 belongs to the previous week). Then 10-09 through 10-11 rose three sessions in a row, 1.06%, 0.44% and 0.94%, pushing from 81711 USDT back to 83723 USDT. On 10-12 it was knocked down again, from 83723.1 USDT to 81813.4 USDT, down 2.28%, the largest single-day drop of the week. On 10-13 it recovered from 81813.5 USDT to 83487.3 USDT, up 2.05%. Put 81711 USDT next to 83487.3 USDT and the size of the bounce is clear; but the 10-12 candle shows the bounce was not a straight line.
107 weeks were stronger, but by very different degrees
Of the 200-week sample, 107 weeks were stronger than this one. They range from 2025-12-01 at 0.03% to 2023-03-13 at 27.15%, 2026-08-17 at 23.61%, 2024-02-26 at 22.05% and 2023-01-09 at 21.95%.
| Stronger week | open (USDT) | close (USDT) | Change |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2023-03-13 | 21986.2 | 27955.7 | 27.15% |
| 2026-08-17 | 62876 | 77719.1 | 23.61% |
| 2024-02-26 | 51764.9 | 63178.5 | 22.05% |
| 2023-01-09 | 17124.6 | 20882.7 | 21.95% |
| 2023-03-20 | 27955.8 | 27954.3 | -0.01% |
| 2025-06-09 | 105676.5 | 105534.6 | -0.13% |
| 2026-04-27 | 78614.4 | 78529 | -0.11% |
The easily missed rows are the last three. 2023-03-20 fell 0.01%, 2025-06-09 fell 0.13% and 2026-04-27 fell 0.11%; all three declined, but fell less than this week, so they still count as stronger. This week fell 0.28%, more than all three. Part of the 107 is therefore not "rose more" but "fell less." This week ranks 108th, in the back half, with 92 weeks weaker. That places it slightly behind the middle, neither the worst batch nor anything close to strong.
What popular Square posts say about the bounce
Popular Square posts argue (relayed, not this site's view) that with bitcoin back around the 83487.3 USDT close of 10-13, the focus has shifted from whether it keeps falling to how far this bounce can run. Those posts point to 81711 USDT on 10-08 as a level repeatedly discussed, and treat the 10-13 move from 81813.5 USDT to 83487.3 USDT as a short-term sentiment repair signal. Other posts caution that 10-12 fell from 83723.1 USDT to 81813.4 USDT, down 2.28% in a single day, showing selling pressure overhead, so the bounce needs later sessions to confirm. All of this is Square discussion only, not this site's view, and not a basis for any decision.
Three plain truths
First, a large single-day drop can come at any time. On 10-12 price fell from 83723.1 USDT to 81813.4 USDT, down 2.28% in one day; if you only look at the 2.05% bounce on 10-13, you miss what happened the day before. Second, high leverage has no room for error here. Price swung between 81711 USDT and 83723 USDT, and a 2.28% single-day drop can take out a leveraged position before the bounce arrives, so being right on direction may still not pay. Third, funding rates and "best week" labels are conclusions you only reach in hindsight. The 108th rank and the back-half position are known only after the data prints; on 10-12, staring at 81813.4 USDT, nobody knew the week would be down just 0.28% as of the 10-13 close.
The fee side, at the default tier
Binance futures default maker fee is 0.02% and default taker fee is 0.05%. After a 20% rebate, the effective maker fee is 0.016% and the effective taker fee is 0.04%. These three numbers are fixed and unrelated to this week's move; frequent traders accumulate cost by trade count, not by the week's 0.28%.

Correction (2026-10-14): an earlier version called the 10-08 close (81711 USDT, previous week) this week's low and said the week had gaps. This week starts on 10-12; its lowest close through 10-13 is 81813.4 USDT on 10-12, and each day opened at the prior close with no gaps. Fixed.
