News that the G7 may release up to 100 million barrels of oil and diesel reserves put crude-linked contracts in focus. On Binance, CLUSDT fell 2.24% this week while BZUSDT rose 3.8%, moving in opposite directions. For anyone trading crude contracts, what matters is not the headline itself but how price moved around it and where the volatility landed. This guide uses daily data checked through the Binance API to walk through CLUSDT and BZUSDT day by day, compare this week against the historical weekly sample, and lay out the default maker and taker fees plus the rates after a 20% rebate.

Two crude contracts moved in opposite directions this week

Pick out the key days. September 29 was CLUSDT's heaviest drop this week, from open=93.14 USDT to close=89.09 USDT, down 4.35%, wiping out the prior two days of narrow range in one session. October 1 was the strongest bounce, from open=90.04 USDT to close=92.99 USDT, up 3.28%, but October 2 gave some back, from open=92.99 USDT to close=91.28 USDT, down 1.84%. BZUSDT ran a different rhythm: it also dipped on September 29, from open=98.53 USDT to close=95.74 USDT, down 2.83%, but on October 1 it pushed straight to open=97.63 USDT and close=102.37 USDT, up 4.86%, then held nearly flat with a 0.02% drop on October 2 and a 0.13% drop on October 3. Two crude-linked contracts, the same G7 reserve headline, one closed lower and one closed higher, which shows the pricing impact was not symmetric.

PairWeekly samplesWeeks stronger than this oneThis week's change
CLUSDT2714-2.24%
BZUSDT2783.8%

Put the two sets side by side. BZUSDT's 3.8% this week ranks relatively high in the 27 samples, with only 8 weeks stronger. CLUSDT's -2.24% sits in the middle-to-lower range, with 14 weeks stronger. Those stronger weeks include both a large up week of 13.93% and a down week of 2.21% that was smaller than this week's decline, so "stronger" here means relative to this week, not simply upward.

Popular posts on Square argue that the G7 potentially releasing up to 100 million barrels of oil and diesel reserves would pressure crude prices in the short term, and that the expectation of a release alone changes how traders want to hold positions (relayed, not this site's view). Other popular posts argue the release news mainly affects expectations and that the actual pace still matters, which is why CLUSDT and BZUSDT moved in opposite directions in the same week (relayed, not this site's view). Some popular posts also note that crude contract volatility tends to cluster around the days before and after a headline, and the large swings on September 29 and October 1 reflect that rhythm (relayed, not this site's view). These are only discussions on Square, not a judgment on price direction and not confirmed facts.

Three things that are easy to miss

First, gaps and single-day swings amplify emotion. On September 29, CLUSDT moved from 93.14 USDT to 89.09 USDT, down 4.35%, and a one-day move like that puts pressure on positions in a very short window; people who enter after seeing the news often buy at a level the day has already passed.

Second, with high leverage, even a correct direction can get shaken out. On October 1, CLUSDT rose 3.28% and BZUSDT rose 4.86%, but on October 2 CLUSDT fell 1.84% and BZUSDT fell 0.02%. Betting on a single day's direction with high leverage means the account gives out before the view is proven right or wrong.

Third, funding rates and holding costs are faced every day. A contract is not only about direction; fees during the holding period keep drawing down, and short-term traders especially need to count them into cost.

Also worth remembering: "the best week is a conclusion in hindsight." The week of 2026-07-13 saw CLUSDT rise 13.93%, and the week of 2026-04-20 saw BZUSDT rise 11.44%, but those numbers were only labeled after the fact, and nobody knew at the time how that week would turn out. Treating the strongest historical week as a future target mistakes the result for the cause.

How the fees work

The default maker fee on Binance contracts is 0.02%, and the default taker fee is 0.05%. The rebate ratio is 20%. After the rebate, the effective maker fee is 0.016% and the effective taker fee is 0.04%. For contracts like CLUSDT or BZUSDT with wider swings, the gap between maker and taker accumulates with trading frequency, so working out the effective rates first is more practical than reviewing fees afterward.
