NEAR Intents user payments are getting repeated attention on the Square, but NEARUSDT did not follow. The week opened at 4.913 USDT on 2026-10-05 and last closed at 4.575 USDT, down 6.88%. Against a 200-week sample, that ranks 144th, in the back half of the sample. Ecosystem payment discussion is heating up while the contract price fell this week, and both are true at the same time.

Two sessions decided the week. On 10-05 price ran from 4.913 USDT to 5.293 USDT, up 7.73%, and on 10-07 it moved from 5.064 USDT to 5.334 USDT, up 5.33%, with a -4.33% day in between. Looking only at those two, it is easy to think buyers had control. Then 10-08 gave it all back: open 5.333 USDT, close 4.575 USDT, down 14.21%, one candle erasing more than the gains of 10-05 and 10-07 combined. The weekly figure runs from the 4.913 USDT open on 10-05 to the 4.575 USDT close, down 6.88%. The -10.04% day on 10-01 shows the week did not start from calm either, with 5.339 USDT to 4.803 USDT already setting a defensive tone.

There are 143 stronger weeks, and this week ranks 144th out of 200 including itself, in the back half of the sample. The strongest weeks were extreme: the week of 2026-09-14 ran from 2.297 USDT to 4.166 USDT, up 81.37%; the week of 2026-05-18 ran from 1.507 USDT to 2.394 USDT, up 58.86%; the week of 2025-11-03 ran from 2.189 USDT to 3.073 USDT, up 40.38%. Earlier, the week of 2023-01-09 ran from 1.646 USDT to 2.242 USDT, up 36.21%, and the week of 2026-08-31 ran from 1.818 USDT to 2.439 USDT, up 34.16%. Those weeks all closed higher than they opened; this one closed at 4.575 USDT, below the 4.913 USDT open on 10-05.

What the Hot Posts Say

Hot posts on the Square argue that the scale of NEAR Intents user payments reflects real ecosystem demand and deserves its own discussion (paraphrased, not this site's view). That camp treats the payment figure as a sign of improving fundamentals, reasoning that users paying for cross-chain intents means the product is being used and the token should follow. Others caution that payment volume and token price are separated by token economics, unlock schedules and overall market mood, so the two cannot be equated. Both views have supporters. On this week's tape, the payment headline and the 6.88% weekly decline simply sit side by side.

Three Things Easy to Miss

Gaps are not rare on NEARUSDT. On 10-08 price fell from 5.333 USDT to 4.575 USDT, down 14.21%, and on a day like that a stop can fill far from where you expected, which widens the gap between maker and taker treatment.

High leverage turns a 6.88% weekly decline into a very different experience. Down 6.88% on the week sounds manageable, but a single -14.21% day can wipe out the buffer of a leveraged position, and even if price recovers later, the position may not be there.

Funding is a running cost in a choppy week. With 7.73% and 5.33% up days against -4.33% and -14.21% down days, direction flipped repeatedly, and holders paid funding while absorbing the swings.

One more: the best week is a conclusion in hindsight. The week of 2026-09-14 gained 81.37%, and nobody knew it would close there at the time; this week's 144th place was also only settled after the close. Using a finished weekly candle to project the next one does not follow.

Fees

Binance futures default maker fee is 0.02% and default taker fee is 0.05%. The rebate ratio is 20%, leaving a post-rebate maker fee of 0.016% and a post-rebate taker fee of 0.04%. With a -14.21% day like 10-08 in the mix, in-and-out costs add up faster than usual, so knowing the effective rates matters more than watching price alone.
