A week that closed at 234.52 USDT, up 4.24%
Nvidia shares hit a record high, and the Binance NVDAUSDT equity USDT-margined perpetual moved with it: from an open of 224.98 USDT on 2026-09-28 to a close of 234.52 USDT on 2026-10-03, a weekly move of 4.24%. Against its own history that is not the strongest week. There are 28 weekly samples, and 7 of them were stronger. So this was a firm week, not the best one since listing. For anyone trading the contract, what matters more than the headline number is how price got there day by day, and whether it gave anyone a chance to be on the wrong side.
Only two of the seven days closed lower
| Date | Open | Close | Change |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026-09-26 | 225.17 USDT | 224.71 USDT | -0.2% |
| 2026-09-27 | 224.71 USDT | 224.97 USDT | 0.12% |
| 2026-09-28 | 224.98 USDT | 229.63 USDT | 2.07% |
| 2026-09-29 | 229.62 USDT | 228.61 USDT | -0.44% |
| 2026-09-30 | 228.6 USDT | 229.93 USDT | 0.58% |
| 2026-10-01 | 229.93 USDT | 231.71 USDT | 0.77% |
| 2026-10-02 | 231.71 USDT | 234.42 USDT | 1.17% |
| 2026-10-03 | 234.41 USDT | 234.52 USDT | 0.05% |
Three days tell most of the story. 2026-09-28 was the engine: open 224.98 USDT, close 229.63 USDT, a daily change of 2.07%, which built most of the week's gain in one session. 2026-09-29 gave some of it back: open 229.62 USDT, close 228.61 USDT, a change of -0.44%, a sign that sellers used that level. 2026-10-02 was the second push: open 231.71 USDT, close 234.42 USDT, a change of 1.17%, before 2026-10-03 closed at 234.52 USDT with a change of 0.05%. The rest were small steps: -0.2% on 2026-09-26, 0.12% on 2026-09-27, 0.58% on 2026-09-30, 0.77% on 2026-10-01. Only 2026-09-26 and 2026-09-29 closed lower, so the rhythm was up, pause, up again, not a straight line.
Eighth out of 28 weekly samples
Placed against history, the sample is 28 weeks and 7 were stronger, so this week ranks eighth. Those 7 weeks were: 6.51% starting 2026-03-30, 6.62% starting 2026-04-06, 6.25% starting 2026-04-13, 8.41% starting 2026-05-04, 6.36% starting 2026-07-06, 12.02% starting 2026-08-03, and 6.65% starting 2026-08-31.
| Stronger week starting | Open | Close | Change |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026-03-30 | 165.69 USDT | 176.48 USDT | 6.51% |
| 2026-04-06 | 176.46 USDT | 188.14 USDT | 6.62% |
| 2026-04-13 | 188.14 USDT | 199.89 USDT | 6.25% |
| 2026-05-04 | 198.44 USDT | 215.12 USDT | 8.41% |
| 2026-07-06 | 198.36 USDT | 210.98 USDT | 6.36% |
| 2026-08-03 | 200.57 USDT | 224.67 USDT | 12.02% |
| 2026-08-31 | 216.97 USDT | 231.39 USDT | 6.65% |
The strongest of those was the week starting 2026-08-03: open 200.57 USDT, close 224.67 USDT, up 12.02%, far above this week's 4.24%. The week starting 2026-05-04 came next: open 198.44 USDT, close 215.12 USDT, up 8.41%. The rest sat in a tight band between 6.25% and 6.65%. Notably, 2026-03-30 through 2026-04-13 put three consecutive weeks on that list, when price climbed from 165.69 USDT to 199.89 USDT early after listing. This week's 4.24% is clearly lower than all of them.
What the trending posts in the Square say
Trending posts in the Square argue that Nvidia shares hitting a record high was the direct backdrop for NVDAUSDT's strength this week, with the contract rising alongside sentiment on the underlying, and discussion centering on whether a new high can extend (relayed, not the view of this site). Some posts note that equity USDT-margined perpetuals move on a different clock from native crypto pairs, since their price is anchored to the stock, so watching the underlying matters as much as watching the contract chart (relayed, not the view of this site). Others warn that a new high is exactly where bulls and bears disagree most, with chasers and dip-buyers each holding their own reasons (relayed, not the view of this site). These are Square discussions, not established facts, and they imply no direction.
Three things that are easy to miss
First, gaps. An equity USDT-margined perpetual tracks a stock, and stocks have closed sessions while the contract keeps trading, so the open and the prior close often do not line up. The table shows this: 2026-09-28 opened at 224.98 USDT while 2026-09-27 closed at 224.97 USDT, and 2026-10-03 opened at 234.41 USDT while 2026-10-02 closed at 234.42 USDT. Applying continuous-candlestick logic to this can catch you off guard at the open.
Second, high leverage. Perpetuals carry leverage, which magnifies both directions. The largest single-day gain this week was 2.07% on 2026-09-28 and the largest single-day loss was 0.44% on 2026-09-29. Neither looks large, but leverage multiplies account swings. Using high leverage to chase a pair that has already risen for several days leaves no time to react when the pullback arrives.
Third, funding. Perpetuals use funding to pull price back toward the underlying, and when one side is clearly more crowded, funding leans the other way. With price rising all week, a one-sided book means funding keeps flowing from one side to the other, and the longer you hold, the more that cost builds. Many people count the price move but not this bill, and end up right on direction yet short on result.
One more thing: the best week is a conclusion reached in hindsight. The week starting 2026-08-03 rose 12.02%, but nobody in it knew it would close that way; this week's 4.24% is also labeled firm only after it finished. Historical data describes what happened, not what comes next.
Fees, worked out before you move
Binance's default maker fee is 0.02% and its default taker fee is 0.05%. After a 20% rebate, the effective maker fee is 0.016% and the effective taker fee is 0.04%.
Put those three numbers together and the gap is clear: the same fill costs more than three times as much to take as to make. Five of the seven days closed higher this week and price swung a fair amount, so taking every entry and exit adds up and eats into what the move gave you. Resting an order and paying 0.016% instead of crossing the spread at 0.04% is not a small difference.
