The US 10-year Treasury yield approaching 5.3% showed up clearly on Binance US-equity USDT perpetuals: TBTUSDT moved from 41.04 USDT to 42.29 USDT this week, up 3.05%, while TMFUSDT fell from 27.21 USDT to 25.87 USDT, down 4.92%. Two opposite instruments moved in opposite directions in the same week, which is what duration does when yields rise.

On 2026-09-30 TBTUSDT gained 1.36% to 42.52 USDT, its largest single-day gain of the week, while TMFUSDT lost 2.25% to 25.69 USDT. Where this week ranks

TBTUSDT has 10 weekly samples, and only 2 were stronger: the week of 2026-09-07 went from 38.07 USDT to 39.61 USDT, up 4.05%, and the week of 2026-09-21 went from 38.86 USDT to 41.07 USDT, up 5.69%. This week's 3.05% ranks third.

TMFUSDT also has 10 weekly samples, with 6 stronger weeks in either direction: 2026-08-03 up 2.24%, 2026-08-10 down 2.74%, 2026-08-17 down 0.13%, 2026-08-24 up 2.92%, 2026-08-31 down 1.31%, and 2026-09-14 up 2.84%. SPYUSDT fell 0.59% and QQQUSDT rose 0.03% this week, with 19 and 15 stronger weeks out of 26 samples respectively.

Trending posts on the Square argue that with the US 10-year yield near 5.3%, long-duration bonds stay under pressure and the case for long inverse ETFs keeps coming up (relayed, not this site's view). Other posts link the move to safe-haven assets, saying higher yields can hit equity valuations and shift flows across safe-haven instruments, which may widen swings in broad-index products like SPYUSDT and QQQUSDT (relayed, not this site's view). Some posts also warn that inverse ETFs reset daily, so tracking drifts over longer holding periods (relayed, not this site's view).

Three plain facts

Gaps and overnight risk are easy to miss. Perpetuals trade continuously, but the underlying cash market still closes, and thin liquidity in those hours can produce gaps where stops do not fill where you expect.

High leverage magnifies duration swings. TBTUSDT moved 3.05% this week and TMFUSDT fell 4.92%, with single days like -3.71% in the mix; the higher the leverage, the greater the chance of forced reduction.

Funding rates and the fact that the best week is only visible in hindsight belong together. Perpetual funding shifts with positioning, so holding overnight is not free, and the 4.05% and 5.69% weeks were only labelled strongest after they closed.

Fees

Binance contract default maker fee is 0.02% and default taker fee is 0.05%. The rebate ratio is 20%, leaving an effective maker fee of 0.016% and an effective taker fee of 0.04% after the rebate.
