How are Binance trading fees calculated?
Fee = trade value × fee rate. Binance Spot charges 0.1% (maker) and 0.1% (taker); USD-M futures charge 0.02% and 0.05% on the full position size. Paying with BNB lowers both, by different amounts.
Spot: a percentage of every trade
On Binance Spot, the standard fee is 0.1% for makers and 0.1% for takers, charged on each trade's value. Buying 1,000 USDT of BTC costs 1 USDT; selling it later costs another fee on the sale.
Maker or taker?
You're a taker when your order fills right away against one already on the order book, like a market order. You're a maker when your limit order waits on the book until someone fills it. On futures, makers pay less.
Paying fees with BNB
Turn on BNB fee payment and keep a little BNB in your account: spot fees drop by 25%, USD-M futures fees by 10%. The two discounts differ, so don't apply the spot one to futures.
Futures: the fee is on the whole position
Futures fees are charged on the position's full value, not on your margin. With leverage, a small margin opens a big position, and the fee is on the big number: a 1,000 USDT position costs 0.50 USDT as a taker to open, and again to close. Funding payments on perpetuals are a separate cost.
Where a rebate fits
A referral rebate, if your account has one, is a share of what you actually paid after any BNB discount, so the two multiply rather than add up.

Questions people asked
Everywhere I see perps. What are they, and what do they cost to trade?
Perps are perpetual futures: contracts with no expiry date. On Binance USD-M futures you pay 0.02% as a maker or 0.05% as a taker on the full position size, when you open and again when you close, plus funding while the position is open. Leverage makes losses bigger and faster.
How much fee will I pay on a 1,000 USDT trade?
On Spot, 1 USDT at the standard rate, or 0.75 USDT paying with BNB. On a 1,000 USDT futures position, 0.20 USDT as a maker or 0.50 USDT as a taker, each way.
Maker or taker: which one am I?
A market order is a taker order. A limit order that fills straight away is too. A limit order that waits on the book until someone fills it is a maker order.
Is it worth paying fees with BNB?
It cuts spot fees by 25% and futures fees by 10%. You have to keep some BNB in your account, and its price moves like any other coin's, so weigh that before buying it just for fees.
Does a referral rebate stack with the BNB discount?
Yes, but they multiply rather than add up: the rebate is a share of the fee you actually paid, after the BNB discount.
